Page view escalation

by secback @ Tuesday, Dec. 04, 2007 - 01:13:31

I get about 200 visitors a day in here, and between them they manage 400 page views. It's a nice level of interest, which is slowly rising. The number of page views per visitor goes up and down a lot, with anything between 6 and one and a bit each.

Yesterday I had 197 visitors, which is fairly standard, but they managed 4321 page views between them, at an average of just under 22 each. This is unprecedented. So far today I have had 273 page views from 12 visitors, and we're only an hour in.

I can see two possible explanations. My preferred explanation is that you've all suddenly realised how long I've been brilliant for, and started trawling my back catalog. The other, perhaps more realistic theory is that I'm being scanned in some way. If I suddenly start getting those irritating spam comments, I shall be cross.

Does anyone know anything about this kind of thing?

I think it's probably down to people trawling through all your excellent articles to find some pre-match insight into tonight's game, from a scientific atheist viewpoint with an historical twist. But seriously, I'm sorry I haven't a clue.

If that's what they want, I really ought to provide.

Let's see. Ipswich and City will both be fielding a prime number of players at any one time.

Ipswich was founded by the Anglo-Saxons in the early seventh century, during the reign of King Raedwald, buried at the famous site of Sutton Hoo.

Neither team will be assisted in any way by any kind of deity.

Did I cover all the bases?

I'm here because I was told off at work for not knowing your house move had fallen through. Apparently I'm not slacking around trawling blogs enough when I really should be regenerating stuff.

So here I am, reading now, but it feels like reverse homework being ordered to do it in the office.

I'm going back to my usual 3am readings, I think.

It's not like proper work in the voluntary sector, is it? All my daytime commenters work in it - well, that or computing.

Or both! I feel such a stereotype...
